Capitol Hill Stay is a small local business, owned and operated by Capitol Hill residents. When you contact us you deal directly with the owners.

What We Do

Capitol Hill Stay is an extended stay housing provider specializing in charming, fully furnished apartments for short or long term stays on close-in historic Capitol Hill.

Where We Are

All Capitol Hill Stay apartments are located 1 to 5 blocks from the US Capitol. This is a highly sought-after location. It is a ten minute walk to 2 metros, numerous restaurants, shops, and amenities.

The US Capitol Police patrol this area of Capitol Hill closest to the Capitol, making it unusually safe. This is one of the safest areas of DC. Crime is a possibility in any large city, but we chose this particular area specifically because of it's low incidence of crime, coupled with it's outstanding location.

Capitol Hill is a huge neighborhood, made up of many smaller neighborhoods. Generally speaking, the 'close-in' area closest to the Capitol (where all Capitol Hill Stay properties are) is the most sought-after.

Our Properties

Capitol Hill Stay has approximately 20 apartments, all recently renovated with modern kitchens and baths, many with upscale amenities like granite counters and marble floors. They range from studios to large 2 bedroom apartments. They are in historic buildings, chosen specifically for location and charm. Each is fully furnished, using high quality furnishings, antiques, etc. Each is all inclusive, including utilities, high speed internet, DirecTV or cable television (all CHS apartments are now receiving new flat screen HDTV televisions with digital packages).

Why Choose Us?

We provide an excellent service at a reasonable price (often thousands a month less than national corporate housing providers charge). We are a locally owned small business. We do this professionally, as a full time job.

We chose this location because of the quality of the neighborhood, it's amenities, and the overall safety factor. You can find cheaper lodging in other neighborhoods or even in other parts of Capitol Hill (further from the Capitol), but the old adage that 'you get what you pay for' is very true in Washington, DC.

The best part about CHS is that the apartments are extremely well located - 2 metro stops, tons of restaurants and bars and easy access to pretty much everywhere. Another great advantage was that Capitol Hill Stay worked with the State Department's complicated sliding scale per diem, something most Capitol Hill companies can't be bothered with. The (Junior 1 BR) apartments themselves were great - compact but up to date, stylish and with a built in "home" feel you just can't get in a hotel. Highly recommended.

Staying with Capitol Hill Stay was a fantastic experience! The apartment was gorgeous and provided the opportunity to really get a D.C. experience...every day I walked by the Supreme Court building and Capitol and past beautiful historic homes in Capitol Hill! And on the weekends, I was a few short blocks to the National Mall and enjoyed sight-seeing and running past some of our Nation's most beautiful and historic monuments and museums.

This apartment is in a gorgeous building, and with it's very high ceilings, the space feels enormous. I loved the setting of this building because it's nestled within so many beautiful historic Capitol Hill homes. The front yard and porch provide a great place to sit with your morning coffee or evening wine!

Here's what I can say about my Capitol Hill Stay: From my experience, I found the area to be extremely safe. I would pass 20 or more federal and local police officers on duty when walking to and from work. I also had my dog with me and walked her in the early morning and late evening and never felt unsafe.

We loved this apartment. It was beautifully furnished, including an upstairs outdoor deck and a beautiful small garden attached and also had great security and an amazing location on Capitol Hill, off the orange and red lines and close to Eastern market. CHS caters to the needs of FSOs and other Federal Employees returning from overseas or planning long or short-term stays in Washington D.C.The area is one of the best (and safest) walking neighborhoods in the District. Plenty of green space (National Mall, Capitol Hill Parks, etc.) within easy walking distance. Capitol Hill Stay is now offering discounts for stays of 6 months or longer, depending on circumstance and availability.

CHS properties are approved for government travel under Federal Travel Regulations as a housing provider providing lodging at substantially lower rates than large national chains. CHS properties are also approved on the FEMA Fire Safety list (a requirement for government travel), and on the GSA Schedule as a veteran-owned small business.

We keep paperwork to a minimum - the application is one page, and the rental agreement is one page. We don't require a cash deposit (instead, we take a credit card number as deposit, as a hotel would). The entire process can be done by fax and email.

Capitol Hill Stay does rent long term. There may be a price reduction for long term rentals, usually around 10%. Please inquire for details.
